If students exhibit curiosity, they are actively engaged, alert, and responsive to their environment. The PSHE curriculum aims to stimulate students to delve further and scrutinize the "facts" influencing their decision-making process by employing innovative teaching methods and interactive activities.
Through thought-provoking questions, activities and discussion, students are guided to consider new ideas, perspectives, and narratives, expanding the horizons of their own thoughts and beliefs. Within PSHE we foster an environment of acceptance, respect, empathy, and accountability, allowing students to explore a variety of topics that fall within three main headings; “Health and Wellbeing”, “Living in the Wider World” and “Relationships”.
We do this by following all statutory requirements and guidance. Under section 3.6 of the National Curriculum, Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is compulsory from year 7 onwards. Secondary schools must have regard to guidance issued by the secretary of state as outlined in section 403 of the Education Act 1996.
