Uniform

At Denmark Road High School, the uniform is worn with pride as a symbol of our shared identity, unity, and sense of belonging. We also acknowledge and value the diversity within our community and recognise that, for some students, aspects of uniform expectations may not be suitable due to specific identified needs or personal comfort regarding style. Where appropriate, students are therefore able to exercise choice in certain items of the uniform, in line with school guidance and expectations.

Sixth Form Students should aim for a smart, professional appearance based on respectability and common sense.

Required/compulsory branded items:

  • Denmark Road High School blazer with school badge

Students may choose to wear either of the following shirts throughout the year as a compulsory item of our uniform.

  • Short-sleeved striped shirt with revere collar
  • Long-sleeved striped shirt with revere collar
  • Long-sleeved striped shirt with buttons to the neck with our Denmark Road tie

Students will also be able to choose from additional colours and styles of skirt/trousers to complement the striped shirt/shirt and blazer:

  • Navy or grey skirt, straight, with a small vent at the back, no shorter than mid-thigh
  • Pleated navy or grey skirt, no shorter than mid-thigh
  • Navy blue or grey straight leg school trousers
  • Plain navy blue or grey cardigan, jumper or tank top (if required) which must have a V-neck, not be of sweatshirt/fleece material and not be longer than the blazer. Zipped cardigans are not acceptable
  • Steel grey, navy blue or black socks or tights

We have identified several items of clothing supplied by Monkhouse as preferred garments. These will be identified on the Monkhouse website. You are, of course, able to source these items from other suppliers should you wish to, however they should aim match the shade and colour of the preferred Monkhouse products.

Some key items need to be purchased from our school supplier, Monkhouse, who have a shop in Gloucester City Centre.  Alternatively, we have a generously stocked Second Hand Uniform Shop run by our Reception team. 

Monkhouse Schoolwear Specialists 

Please make sure you have the following items:

  • Falcon regulation fitted polo (navy/red/white) with embroidered badge
  • Falcon regulation skort (navy/red/white)
  • Falcon quarter zip training top (navy/red/white) with embroidered badge
  • Regulation leggings (navy) with DRHS printing
  • White ankle socks
  • Sports trainers (no pumps or daps). No black trainers. Trainers need to have laces, not velcro
  • Navy long socks (for Year 7 September 2025)
  • Shin pads (for Year 7 September 2025)
  • Football boots (for Year 7 September 2025)

Items that can be purchased but are not essential:

  • Falcon training trousers (navy)
  • Falcon regulation PE jacket (navy/scarlet) with embroidered badge and printing
  • Regulation base layer (navy) with DRHS printing
  • Navy hockey socks (only needed for hockey, football and rugby clubs and Year 7 September 2025)
  • Football boots (only needed for football and rugby clubs and Year 7 September 2025)

The PE Department have a small selection of football boots that may be borrowed for clubs and matches. There is, of course, no guarantee that the preferred size will be available.

Some key items need to be purchased from our school supplier, Monkhouse, who have a shop in Gloucester City Centre. These items are in italics. Alternatively we have a generously stocked Second Hand Uniform Shop run by our Reception team. 

Monkhouse Schoolwear Specialists 

  • A smart suit, including either a skirt, trousers or dress in grey or black.
  • Skirts should be an appropriate length.
  • Knee length shorts (of a chino style not cargo style) may be worn in the summer terms
  • A formal collared shirt of your choice.
  • The shirts must be long enough to be tucked in with a visible collar.
  • A plain, crew or v-neck jumper to coordinate with your suit.
  • Your suit jacket should fit comfortably over your jumper. Sweatshirts and hoodies are not permitted.
  • Black or brown flat shoes. Trainers or canvas shoes are not permitted.
  • An outdoor coat - of your choice - may be worn to and from school in cold weather.
  • Jewellery - if worn - should be subtle and minimal
  • Make-up - if worn - should be discreet. Nails need to be appropriate for school.
  • A DRHS PE royal blue t-shirt (option to purchase)
  • A plain navy or black t-shirt.
  • A plain pair of leggings, jogging bottoms, or shorts in navy or black.
  • A plain navy or black hooded sweatshirt.
  • A pair of sport trainers.
  • A pair of studded football boots and shin pads for football (optional).
Jewellery
  • Students with pierced ears are permitted to wear one small silver or gold stud in each ear
  • Students who wear nose piercings are permitted to wear one small silver or gold stud
  • All jewellery will need to be removed for PE lessons
Make-up
  • Students are allowed to wear very subtle make up but no eye shadow, eye-liner, lipstick or nail varnish. Acrylic nails are not permitted

Hair
  • Must be of a natural colour. Long hair and fringes must be tied or clipped back for practical lessons
