Notice of Consultation: Admissions Arrangements at Denmark Road High School for September 2027
Under the Admissions Code September 2021, we are consulting on our admissions arrangements for September 2027 entry over the next six weeks. The proposed change to the admissions arrangements are to the oversubscription criteria. For ease of reference the summary of proposed changes are as follows:
Admissions Years 7-11
Revised oversubscription ii) & iii) (pp places increased to national %)
Revised oversubscription v) ranking order for GL1 – 4 changed to test score from distance
Admissions to Sixth Form
The Admissions Review Group constitution has been amended (see 'Requests for consideration')

How can I contribute to the consultation?
The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 12 noon, Thursday 11th December 2025 until 12 noon, Thursday 22nd January 2026. Draft Admissions Policy Years 7-11 2027 for consultation
Draft Admissions Policy Sixth Form 2027 for consultation
Monday 18th May 2026 (noon) to Friday 26th June 2026 (noon)
You can register for The Gloucestershire Grammar Schools' Entrance test from noon on Monday 18th May until noon on Friday 26th June 2026. A link to the Central Registration Bureau will be available on our website. If a registration is not completed by the closing date, the entrance test cannot be sat. If you have any questions regarding registration, please email our Admissions team admissions@denmarkroad.org.
Your child’s Test Centre School will contact you with times, what to bring, what not to bring, etc. in early September.
The same test will be held at all seven Gloucestershire Grammar Schools on this day.
Results for Denmark Road Grammar School will be emailed to parents.
Parents/Carers must submit their secondary school Common Application Form to their Local Authority by 31st October 2026.
Your Local Authority will inform you which school your child has been allocated on this day.
Please note : GCC strongly encourage you to accept the school place you have been offered, even if you go on another school’s waiting list, to ensure your child has a school place in September 2027.
Children who have not met the qualifying standard (i.e. have not passed the test) are unable to join the waiting list.
