Denmark Road has been my home since Year 7, and since continuing my studies in Sixth Form, I have been able to study the subjects I enjoy the most, with amazing teachers. I am taking Computing, Physics, Maths, and the Engineering EPQ, and I have to say that I have enjoyed completing my EPQ the most so far. Meeting other people who share your passion for your subject here is a wonderful experience, and being able to use our engineering knowledge in the EDT Industrial Cadets Award has been so fulfilling. The trips to Mira Showers, the company we have been working with, and the University of Bath were really inspiring. The skills I have gained throughout the year will definitely help me to achieve my dream to do an apprenticeship after Sixth Form in my favourite subject - Computer Science.
As the Sustainability Lead, I have been able to support the school that has brought me up through improving the environment. The process of doing speeches developed my communication skills, and I am so happy to have gone through the process to receive this role. I am one of the founders of the gardening club, where each week we have been taking it one step at a time to grow flowers and even some vegetables. It has been a great way to work with the younger years and make our school more environmentally friendly.
Outside of school, I love going to volunteering at Oxfam, where I get to re-stock books and be on the till. Being able to experience a working environment while also getting free biscuits is always fun. I then play badminton or go to the gym to get some extra exercise, besides Sixth Form games. Playing team sports with friends such as rounders and volleyball is always extremely fun to do after lessons.
